Mr. Anuj Kumbhat is the Founder & CEO of Weather Risk Management Services, a company that develops path-breaking risk management solutions for farmers by leveraging data, technology and financial innovation. Since its inception in 2004, the company has positively impacted the lives of 10m farmers and covered 1m parametric insurance beneficiaries across 15 countries.

Anuj began his career as a finance professional at one of the largest paper companies in India, Andhra Pradesh Paper Mills (APPM), where he managed project finance, M&A and exports. He provided the senior management of APPM with data and analysis for taking crucial growth decisions and played a key role in APPM’s first big acquisition, driving the scale-up plan of the company. In 2001, he moved to Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd as an Executive Assistant to the Managing Director where he primarily worked on the financial restructuring discussions with the lender and stake sell-off negotiations with potentials buyers giving him some key lessons in high-stake negotiations. Thereafter, he joined ICICI Lombard General Insurance as a Product Manager where he developed new insurance products from conceptualization to launch and also devised the go-to-market strategy for the same. At ICICI Lombard, Anuj also assisted in the development and documentation of Weather Index Insurance product.
