Michael Ting is the General Counsel (Legal & Compliance) of Manulife (International) Limited (MIL) who spearheads the overall legal and compliance matters in relation to the insurance and pension businesses in Hong Kong and Macau. Michael possesses legal qualifications in three different jurisdictions. In addition, he has extensive experience in representing MIL and the industrial groups for the talk-of-the-town legal issues and is keen share his insights with a vision to reunite the industry for a common goal, e.g.: he was the chairman of HKFI’s Task Force on Bermuda Re-domiciliation and is an advocate to the introduction of corporate re-domiciliation regime in Hong Kong. Michael has over two decades of solid legal and compliance experience and held various senior legal/compliance positions in life firms including Sunlife, New York Life and YF Life (formerly known as MassMutual Asia). Under his leadership, MIL’s Legal and Compliance team were numerously awarded the Insurance In-House Team of the Year. In recognition of Michael’s contribution to the industry and legal possession, he was also awarded by Asia Legal Business (ALB) as Hong Kong In-House Lawyer of the year in 2019.
