With 25 years of experience in Insurance, Nicolas is challenging the industry with a deep understanding of its many strengths and few weaknesses. He started his career as an actuary in France with AXA in 1996, before committing to a long story in Asia. In 1998 he was Chief Actuary for AXA Singapore, and he later managed their motor and health product line. After a few years back in Europe where he headed the Motor portfolio for AIG Europe, Nicolas returned to Asia in 2009 to be part of the founding team of DirectAsia. DirectAsia was the first full-stack pan-Asian digital insurance venture before the word Insurtech even existed. They rapidly took a sizable market share in Singapore and Hong Kong and successfully exited in 2014. Nicolas then started Roojai in Thailand, to provide simple, affordable, and reliable insurance to drivers, leveraging technology to improve customer experience and reduce prices. Today Roojai is the leading online insurance player in Thailand with over 130,000 vehicles insured and expanding to new verticals, such as health and accident insurance, and recently launched in Indonesia.
