Acko is India’s first digital only insurer to receive the regulator’s nod and is backed by investors such as Accel, Intact, Swiss Re and Amazon. Tom is the Head of Insurance at Grab, where he oversees the strategic direction and development of the insurance offering in Grab Financial Group. He and the team are on a mission to help address the insurance gap in Southeast Asia, by using technology and data to design innovative digital solutions.
Prior to joining Grab, Tom was part of the early team at Chubb Digital, where he was Head of Digital Partnerships APAC. Mr. Ringsted leads Chubb’s digital efforts aimed at transforming the company into a digitally integrated organization. Prior joining AXA Next Lab Asia, she has 10-year accumulative experience in insurance, investment and start-ups across Australia and UK. She helped insurers and banks with capital management, asset liability management and risk management in the early years of career, and gravitated towards advising on building internal data analytic capability and defining digital customer journey. Along the way she builds a passion and appreciation about technology and co-created a UK-based digital health platform to match fertility patients with the desirable clinics and treatments. A firm advocate for idea and cultural exchange, she co-chaired the 2016 China Business Forum and assumed a role of co-president of China Club at London Business School to bridge the dialogue on innovation and entrepreneurship between UK and China. As Chief Digital Officer, Peter oversees Income’s Digital Transformation Office to accelerate the organisation’s digital strategy. Spearheading strategic initiatives on digitization and innovation while driving a new way of working within Income, Peter is instrumental in establishing Income as a leading digital insurer in Singapore. In the Applied Innovation Institute Singapore Insurance Innovation and Digital Benchmark, which ranked the innovation and digitization efforts of 25 insurers in Singapore, Income was ranked overall first.
In his 11 years with Income, Peter has also led the Corporate Office, Branch Services, Contact Centre, and the Life and Health Operations division that includes functions such as new business, underwriting, claims and policy services. As a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with extensive experience in diverse industries such as manufacturing, telecommunication, hospitality & tourism, Peter has been the champion for Process Excellence.

Nicko Widjaja is the CEO of BRI Ventures, a venture arm of Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BBRI), the country’s largest bank by assets.
An early tech investment pioneer, he has a career spanning over 15 years in venture capital, corporate transformation, and startup ecosystem. He was formerly the CEO of MDI Ventures, a Telkom Indonesia backed venture capital, with investment in over 10 countries. Under his leadership, MDI Ventures became one of the most proﬁtable venture capital ﬁrms in the region with two international IPOs (ASX and TSE) and four trade exits in just four years since inception.
Prior to MDI Ventures, he launched one of the ﬁrst Indonesia venture funds in 2010 called Systec Ventures. Before Socotra, Dan did IT investing and portfolio management for Formation 8 Partners (now 8VC), where he specialized in data platforms and smart enterprise software. Prior to that, Dan’s depth of enterprise experience was honed over six years with Palantir. There, Dan was an early member of the core engineering team and later transitioned to run Palantir’s partnerships, plus several deployments. Dan holds a master’s of science in computer science from Stanford University, where he was published in artificial intelligence (ISMB ‘Best Paper’ 2006). Prior to PolicyPal, Val Yap worked as the Assistant Vice President at OCBC Bank, where she headed a wide range of digital initiatives, working closely with wealth and marketing to drive innovations. Val also served as Risk Assurance Associate at PwC in London. Former sales broker at Allianz, Val feels passionately about making insurance protection simple and accessible to everyone. Wei Zhu is the CEO and Founder of Axinan, a Singapore-based full-stack insurtech firm that enables smart, digital insurance for the Internet economy. He has amassed decades of experience in founding and growing technology companies and products globally, and have held leadership roles at conglomerates such as Grab, Facebook and Microsoft.
Wei Zhu was one of the first 100 engineers of Facebook and spent six years in San Francisco, where he launched Facebook Connect – a single sign-on feature used by hundreds of millions of people on the web to log in to third-party sites using their Facebook identity. Before that, Wei spent eight years at Microsoft, where he rose up the ranks to eventually becoming Principal Development Lead at the tech giant – leading the design and development of Live Desktop, the web platform and application of Live Mesh, as well as in the SharePoint Server within Microsoft Office.
Prior to founding Axinan, Wei was at Southeast Asia’s largest ride-hailing company Grab’s first CTO in 2014. He was charged with the development and execution of new technologies, in addition to planning for risk and growth – where he was instrumental to help scale the company and build innovative products.
Wei holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Washington.
