Joseph Yew
Joseph Yew is the Chief Information Officer at MSIG Asia. MSIG is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co. Ltd., and a member of the MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings Inc., one of Asia's leading general insurance brand with over 40,000 employees and presence in 50 countries and regions globally.
Joseph is accountable for the current and future state of technology at MSIG Asia across fourteen markets in the region. His remit includes delivering technology solutions and services, supporting digital transformation and development efforts, and to ensure that all business units practise good technology governance.
Outside of his day job, Joseph sits in the Steering Committee of the Centre for Smart Platform Infrastructure Research on Integrative Technology (SPIRIT) at the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore (NTU). The SPIRIT Centre contributes to the nation’s Smart Nation vision with translational research through the fast solutioning and prototyping of applications in the areas of AI and Data Science, Machine & Deep Learning, Image & Video Analytics, and more.
Joseph has over twenty-five years of experience in technology. Prior to joining MSIG, Joseph
had held positions as the Director in charge of technology covering eight government agencies and organs of state in Singapore, acted as the Chief Technology Officer at Singapore’s Supreme Court, Chief Information Officer at the Ministry of Law, and the Regional Chief Information Officer at Credit Suisse Asset Management.
Joseph holds an MBA from the University at Buffalo, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore.
