Zurich Edge delivers seamless embedded insurance solutions with 40 digital partners

Zurich Insurance has been named Digital Insurer of the Year in Asia-Pacific at the Insurtech Connect Asia (ITC) 2025 in Singapore, in recognition of its leading digital proposition – Zurich Edge. Since its launch in July 2023, Zurich Edge has delivered seamless, contextual insurance products to over 90 organizations and 450 million customers across Asia-Pacific through its expansive digital partnership ecosystem, including Tesla, GXBank, Shopee, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Indosat, AEON Bank, Klook, Comfort Delgro and Circles Life.

The award recognises Zurich’s industry-leading digital strategy, customer-centric focus, and commitment to transforming how insurance is delivered to both individuals and organisations.

An absence of holistic offerings that meet the needs of both customers and organisations led to Zurich’s vision — to reimagine the entire insurance lifecycle across sales, servicing and claims.

“This is supported by a systems architecture that is optimised for the integration of both current and future technologies, with customer centricity firmly at our core,” says Roopa Malhotra, Head of Customer and Digital, Zurich APAC.

Built on innovation

Zurich Edge is built on four fundamental pillars:

· Renowned Expertise: integrating dedicated, cross-functional digital squads in each market with regional expertise, for an agile and scalable model for innovation.

· Refreshed Solutions: offering digitally fit products; modular, coverage-based, enhanced with relevant value-added services.

· Reimagined Technology: utilizing cutting-edge technology for seamless, easy integration.

· Redefined Partnerships: fostering strong, collaborative relationships with partners. At the heart of Zurich Edge’s solutions sits the Zurich Edge Platform (ZEP), a region-wide digital infrastructure deployed since 2024. Unlike conventional platforms focused primarily on sales, ZEP integrates across the entire insurance value chain — from sales and servicing to claims management.

The platform has an open API architecture that allows for partners to be quickly onboarded and insurance products to be seamlessly embedded into partner platforms. Built as a modern, cloud-native solution free from legacy constraints, ZEP employs microservices architecture to ensure flexibility and scalability.

Transforming the customer journey

Zurich Edge's innovative approach has redefined insurance customer journeys across the Asia Pacific region:

· Australia: Partnered with Tesla to launch “InsureMyTesla,” an integrated insurance solution within the Tesla app, covering vehicle repairs, glass, charging equipment, and batteries.

· Japan: Integrated with Ponta’s loyalty program, offering 117 million members personal accident protection with options ranging from free injury coverage to premium plans.

· Indonesia: Simplified digital claims for Traveloka, allowing customers to quickly share incident details, upload documents, and monitor claims in real-time via an online platform.

· Malaysia: Collaborated with GXBank to create a seamless 3-click purchase flow for Cyber Fraud Protect, embedding the product directly into their app with intuitive UI and flexible monthly renewals. This helped us achieve a 10% penetration rate and 80% renewal rate. Likewise, for Shopee, we integrated a wide range of insurance offerings including travel, car, motorcycle, and personal accident into the marketplace, delivering a smooth, end-to-end digital experience supported by enhanced claims and marketing journeys.

Operational excellence

Beyond customer-facing innovation, Zurich Edge has helped its partners achieve significant operational efficiencies. Its modular coverage approach enables agile product launches and quick adaptations, reducing operational costs through optimised resource allocation.

With Zurich Edge’s ’digital squad’ teams embedded in local markets throughout the region, its partners benefit from a responsive and tailored approaches that reflect the specific needs of each market.

By investing in digital transformation, Zurich is poised to continue leading innovation in Asia's rapidly evolving insurance landscape.
