Swapnil Mhasde is the Head of Money Movement, Regional Southeast Asia.  

In this role, Swapnil is responsible for leading Visa’s modern fiat and digital currency money movement business, branded Visa Direct. He is responsible for regional P&L, market expansion strategy, sales and go to market execution driving ecosystem adoption of modern solutions for frictionless and fast money movement with clients and partners across the Southeast Asia region.

Career Profile

Swapnil is a senior business leader at VISA and has worked with highly successful Financial Institutions, Fintech and Merchant organizations across Asia Pacific (APAC) to drive adoption of seamless digital payments. He is widely recognized in the APAC banking and payments industry for exceptional skills in building adoption for digital payments and cross border at scale.

At Visa, he has lead the enablement and expansion of real time cross border payment solutions and infrastructure partnering with top tier financial institutions across Asia Pacific to modernize payments.

Throughout his professional career he has held several senior leadership positions managing the delivery of cutting edge payment innovation at global scale, such as spearheading transformation of legacy cross border bank infrastructure to modern real-time fiat and digital stable currency based payments and collection solutions with superior user experience driving efficient liquidity management and faster payments across APAC, as well as building and scaling  world’s 1st interoperable QR-code based merchant payments accelerating digital payments in emerging economics globally.

Swapnil is also an inventor holding patents for payments innovation, that have scaled in the form of commercial grade solutions with billions of transactions. He is also an internationally well renowned expert in Fintech industry delivering inclusive and innovative payment ideas and thought leadership at industry events and central bank forums.

Swapnil has an MBA degree from National University of Singapore and Bachelor of Engineering from University of Pune India and has many certified executive educations from top global universities.
